Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Institute of Mental Health estimated that nearly one third of American adults experienced an anxiety disorder at some point in their lives. Even more concerning, “normal” healthy children in the U.S. today appear to have higher levels of anxiety than hospitalized psychiatric patients from the mid 1950s.
